I Have Nothing to Say

OK, I think we all know that's not true.

There is this great old adage, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".  It isn't that I've had anything mean to say, but I am just sometimes so overwhelmed by the sorrow of life, and who wants to read about it on a blog?  Don't we have enough grief in our own, real, every day lives?  Do we really need to delve into the pit of cyberspace and wallow in someone else's stink pile?

Actually, yes.

And here's why.

Because now I know to pray for my friend who has endured more heartache than any one person should possibly endure trying to conceive.  Because I can lift up a sweet mother in prayer who is cherishing every single moment of her newborn's life, because this mother knows her baby's life will be cut tragically short at any moment.  Because I can remember to pray for a family who have added to their brood when most people would have walked away.  I can pray continually for the family who are preparing for the two year anniversary of their precious daughter's death which looms great in their lives and hearts.  I can pray for a sweet boy who is bravely fighting cancer even though based on  his warrior spirit alone, he should be walking in total health and victory.

Tonight I don't have anything funny or clever to say (even though Calvin has had some doozies lately...). I just haven't felt up for blogging about homeschooling or martial arts or a day in my life for a few weeks. I have been preoccupied grieving for and praying about others, and although that may leave a very long pause online, it is probably what I should be spending my time on.

Don't worry.  I will be back to my old blogging self soon.  It is just a little hard to get there when I know others' lives are not able to "get back to normal" ever again.

I absolutely understand where you are at, Ann. I am in a very similar place right now. So many people with so many heartaches and so much grief around me. The death of a spouse of a dear friend, a failed adoption (again)for our youth pastor and his wife, my dad suffering with shingles, and the list could go on. Yet in it all I know that our Father is absolutely Sovereign. I just finished reading a fabulous book called If God, Why Evil? by Norman Geisler. If you haven't read it, I can highly recommend it to you. It's a relatively short book, but so clearly written and easily read. Dr. Geisler is a master at systematically explaining the Word and things about God that are hard to understand. Keep praising God in the midst of all the sorrow. Jesus is the Victorious One and someday, whether in the near future or in eternity, it will all make sense. He has not forgotten any of these people and He will be glorified.
