"My Cart Runneth Over!"

(I'm sure that's in the Message version somewhere.)

It always seems to happen to somebody else, but today - well, today was MY day! I always read about other people finding terrific deals and saving ridiculous amounts of money, and while I am happy for them, I have started to suffer from bargain-shopping inadequacy. But today I learned an important lesson - bargain shopping is often portrayed as a skill when really it is much more blind luck. And today was MY lucky day!

I walked into CVS this morning to pick up a prescription and literally happened to wander down an aisle with the remnants of the summer "stuff" and a paper sign that read "90% off". Huh? Seriously?

So, a bit skeptical, I picked up a couple of things and headed to the check out. Now, I'm no math whiz so I just assumed I had miscalculated what I thought I would have to pay, but NOPE. Three bags full for about $3.00. Yep. I rock.

The sales lady casually mentioned that a woman had filled a cart last night and only paid $40.00, so I thought maybe I should take a closer look. I mean, 90% off? You just can't beat that with a big stick!

I, too, literally filled a cart - and paid a grand total of $14.33! I saved a total of $120.30! And I didn't buy anything I won't use! Sunscreen, swim goggles, bubbles, craft foamies, dishcloths, furniture dusting wipes, glass cleaner wipes, multi-purpose wipes, 6 plates, 6 cups, 6 bowls, 2 serving bowls, 1 ginormous water bottle, 2 frosty mugs, 4 boxes of plastic spoons, a cold pack, boy sandals, 2 remote control cars (the most expensive items I bought at $1.49 each), 2 swim rings, a little cooler, and a large igloo thermos cooler. Maybe there was more - I can't remember!

To mark this momentous occasion, I came home and laid everything out and took a picture. (I forgot about the cooler, so it is its own picture. It was a great bargain day, but I could still use some help with the memory...) Here is the visual of a great shopping day.

I rock!
