So Here I Am

Um...OK. Yep. Finally here. Cyberspace. It isn't quite what I had expected, at least not yet. I had a friend encourage me to start a blog about a year ago (shout out to you, Chex!). But I am not the most computer literate person, and it has taken me well over 12 months to finally show up here in blog world. Now that I am here, I am just not real sure what exactly to do. Or say. I guess it would be "say", right? I mean write. Yes, write.

I had all these grand visions of the words just flowing forth - my great manifestos and deep thoughts, mixed in with a few cute stories of the boys. Thousands of people checking my blog daily to see what wisdom and wit I would throw out at the world each morning. But now that I am actually HERE... I am feeling a little...intimidated. You know, don't want to say too much and give away lots of personal information, certainly don't want to post anything that would offend my mother if she ever figured out the internet, and realizing that today, at least, I got nothin' juicy and life changing for you.

I know I could introduce myself better, but really - what do you say out here to millions? There are lots of "things" about me. The main ones are that I am a Christian, I am married to a fabulous guy, I have two sons that are both joys and delights to my life, and I stay at home with them as my occupation. I have some hobbies - I like photography, I enjoy running (most days), and I absolutely love and adore the sport of football. (American football...in case anyone thinks I mean soccer. Oh my gosh, there could be people from other COUNTRIES reading this??? Whoa - freaking a bit here...)

I decided to start a blog for a couple of reason. 1. I love to write. I write all kinds of stuff when I get a chance. I am not your poet kind of writer. No. Nothing that beautiful. I write little devotionals sometimes when I read something from the Bible and it really strikes me. Maybe I will post some sometime. I would love to write a Bible Study someday. Wouldn't mind writing a book either. Not sure what kind. Oh, yeah. Why I am blogging. Right. 2. I have thoughts on different topics that I would like to record somewhere. Not sure cyberspace is the BEST choice for someone who doesn't like conflict (that means if you don't agree with what I am posting I would prefer you not comment and make me cry), but it was free. 3. I think it is a good exercise for me to put my thoughts out "there". Sometimes I tend to keep my thoughts to myself possibly more than I should . So maybe this is some cheap (did I mention free?) therapy for me.

Well, I hate to leave you hanging (oh, and I know this is just the most tantalizing literature you have read in months...) but I am going to stop now before I get too afraid and delete the whole entry.

Before I go, a brief disclaimer. I have no idea what this is going to really look like. There are some things I really want to post about - just random things like why I love football, why I got my nose pierced (yeah, you'll be back for that one won't you?), and how I feel about life as a stay-at-home-mom. But I also may post just about my day. What we did. Who said what. So if you are expecting some great blog with profound revelations and thought provoking banter (kind of like I was before I started typing), you might be a little disappointed. But if you can adjust your expectations like I have had to adjust mine, maybe you'll be back to check things out again. Just bear with me. Work in progress here.

Have a great day!

I am on the edge of my seat... (or is it 'the edge of my keyboard' ??)

You go girl!!! So excited you finally did it! Your readers are in for some amazing writing. I'll pass along your blog to other friends who are addicting to reading blogs!

I know exactly what you mean about being "nervous" and about mean people out there. I started my blog over a year ago now and I've had my share of nerves and mean people. But what I've found is that most people are pretty nice and blogging is a great way to vent, relax and make some cool cyber-friends. SAHM's have many interesting things to say, and I'll be sure to check back.

Ann! I'm so proud! To think, you learned to do this and use call waiting in the same year! And I thought we had a 'no growth' agreement in our friendship! Ava and I will enjoy reading about your life!

Ann,

It is great to hear your (e-)voice again! I really dig the way you write; mostly because it sounds a lot like the way you think, except type-ier.

I'm looking forward to whatever it is you decide to post on your blog. As a fellow blogging amateur, let me offer some entirely unqualified advice: write a lot. Don't worry about how "good" you think it is (let me assure you, it is), who is going to read it, or whether or not what you have to say is "interesting." The act of writing is the end, not the means, for those who love to write...and it sounds like you fall right into that camp.

I'm looking forward to readin' your stuff!

Peace from C-town (the Ohio one, not the cool one),
Justin

P.S. - Please tell Mark I am waiting with bated breath to hear what he thinks of the Transformers movie.
